Laminated Glass

Glass consisting of two or more panes bonded together with an interlayer (typically PVB or SGP) that holds fragments in place when broken.

Laminated glass is a safety glass that stays intact when broken because the interlayer holds the glass fragments together. It is required by Canadian building codes for overhead glazing, skylights, glass railings, and security applications.

The interlayer also provides sound dampening and UV protection. Common interlayer materials include polyvinyl butyral (PVB) and SentryGlas Plus (SGP), with SGP offering significantly higher structural strength for applications like glass railings and canopies.
