Storefront System
A non-residential glazing system typically used on the ground floor of commercial buildings, consisting of aluminum framing and glass panels installed between floor and ceiling.
Storefront systems are lighter-duty than curtain walls and are designed for single-storey applications. They are the standard glazing system for retail spaces, restaurant fronts, office entrances, and strip malls across Canada.
Common manufacturers include Kawneer, YKK AP, and Alumicor. Storefront systems are typically "stick-built" on site from aluminum extrusions, with thermal breaks available for energy code compliance.
