Curtain wall glazing now defines much of the Temerty Discovery Centre’s curving Shaw Street frontage as the final phase of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health’s (CAMH) Queen Street West redevelopment moves through its late stages, according to an UrbanToronto update.
UrbanToronto reported that "curtain wall glazing spans much of the Temerty Discovery Centre’s curving Shaw Street frontage" as construction also advances at the Waverley House Secure Care and Recovery Building and the Doctor’s Association Building Expansion, which has topped out. The three buildings—all seven storeys—were above grade in the publication’s September 2025 update and form the final phase of the 27-acre Trinity Bellwoods redevelopment.
Glazing defines the Discovery Centre’s curved frontage
UrbanToronto’s October 2026 photo update shows the Discovery Centre from across Shaw Street, where the curtain wall sweeps across a recessed centre with closely spaced vertical fins and temporary plywood infill in several bays. A continuous band of darker glazing runs beneath the projecting upper floors, just above the historic brick perimeter wall, and the red basket of a boom lift appears behind the wall at right.
The July update documented curtain wall glazing and olive-toned spandrels wrapping the Discovery Centre’s rounded corner, with several fifth- and sixth-floor bays still open or temporarily boarded. By September, glazing and spandrel panels traced sections of the curved, stepped-back seventh floor, while steel framing remained exposed around the rooftop mechanical area and white weatherproofing was visible along part of the sixth floor.
Between the site’s two cranes, glazing and spandrel panels trace sections of the Discovery Centre’s curved, stepped-back seventh floor. Steel framing remains exposed around the rooftop mechanical area, with white weatherproofing visible along part of the sixth floor and an orange tarp covering a fifth-floor bay.
Three buildings advance through the final phase
Designed by KPMB Architects and TreanorHL, the Discovery Centre consolidates CAMH’s research and education programs. Diamond Schmitt Architects designed the 200-bed Waverley House Secure Care & Recovery Building and the Doctor’s Association Building Expansion, which includes institutional space and a multi-level parkade.
UrbanToronto reported that "The three buildings range in height from 23.2m to 60.3m" and that CAMH anticipates the Temerty Discovery Centre to reach completion in late 2027 and the Waverley House Secure Care & Recovery Building in 2029. The Doctor’s Association Building Expansion has topped out.
Waverley House glazing progresses
On Waverley House, UrbanToronto’s October 2026 photos show tall runs of curtain wall glazing and opaque spandrels covering portions of the north elevation, wrapping a projecting corner bay above the entrance canopy’s exposed steel underside. Around the corner on Lower Ossington Avenue, a mast-climbing platform spans several bays on the west elevation, where glazing is in place in some framed window openings.
By July, Waverley House’s south elevation carried a construction hoist, and scaffold towers and mast-climbing platforms lined its east elevation. Window frames and some glazing were seen on the lower floors amid green, blue, and white weatherproofing. A September drone view showed Waverley House’s two wings framing a recessed courtyard, giving the building its U-shaped massing, while roof decking spanned the mechanical penthouse, whose perimeter bays remained open.
In April 2026, Waverley House reached its roof slab, with mechanical penthouse formwork above elevations covered in green and blue weatherproofing. Farther west, a crane marked the Doctor’s Association Building Expansion.
The update does not describe the glazing system type, whether unitized or stick-built, and it does not say whether the curved glass units were cold-bent or factory-shaped. For contractors assessing the Discovery Centre’s façade, the visible features are vertical fins, olive-toned spandrels, and a continuous band of darker glazing beneath the upper floors.
The Doctor’s Association Building Expansion has topped out, but the November 2026 photo update does not show curtain wall progress on that building. The photographs focus primarily on the Discovery Centre and Waverley House.
CAMH anticipates the Temerty Discovery Centre to reach completion in late 2027 and Waverley House Secure Care & Recovery Building in 2029. The update does not provide a completion date for the Doctor’s Association Building Expansion.

Toronto glazing context and open questions
The Queen West campus, part of the 27-acre Trinity Bellwoods redevelopment, is one of Toronto’s most visible institutional curtain wall projects now under construction. The Discovery Centre’s Shaw Street facade combines vertical fins, darker glazing bands, and olive-toned spandrels. The update does not list performance specifications for the glazing systems. For Canadian glazing contractors, institutional facades in Ontario are subject to the Ontario Building Code and CSA A440, and the Queen West campus is a live example of curved curtain wall work in Toronto.
UrbanToronto’s update also does not identify the glazing contractor or fabricator, nor does it specify thermal or structural performance values for the curtain wall. It also does not say whether the historic brick perimeter wall will be preserved or modified. No information is provided on glazing U-values, solar heat gain coefficients, or air leakage rates. The publication said it will continue to follow progress on these developments, with additional information available in its database files and project forum threads.
